F.A.Q.

Q: What is EQ2 Named Database?
A: EQ2 Named Database is a website solely about named creatures and their loot in Everquest II. We aim to become the most complete and reliable info source in this particular field of the game.

Q: What is EQ2 Named Database not?
A: The website does not cover non-named mobs and their drops nor quest npcs that don't drop loot..

Q: What new offers EQ2 Named Database?
A: There are some big websites about EQ2 that cover every aspect of the game.
More often than not those informations are incomplete, obsolete or simply wrong. We strife for accurate quality informations. And we can offer this due to the high specialization of the website.

Q: How does it work?
A: All the data is stored in a database. To get the informations we developed a flexible parser that scans player's EQ2 logfiles for the informations about named monster drops. A highly automated system takes the filtered data and fills the database. We already have a core of players that collects data about drops. The more logfiles and data we get, the more exact are the info's about drop chances and spawn behavior. Therefore we need your help. We appreciate any help.
The database can only grew with the help of the community.

Q: Where do i find my logfiles?
A: You enable chat logging in EQ2 by typing "/log on" in your chat window. This will start recording text from your chatwindows in a textfile. You can locate it at: yourEQ2Directory/logs/yourServer/eq2log_yourCharname.txt
(Example: Everquest2/logs/Valor/eq2log_myToon.txt)
Typing: "/log off" disables logging. So you can determine when recording. Read: preferable only during farming sessions.

Q: Is there any risk for me?
A: Not at all. Everquest 2 only records text from the chatwindow. Under no circumstances the textfile contains informations about your account like password or user name. Our parser tool scans the logfile and filters out all text but the drop and kill informations. You can open the file in a texteditor by yourself and read it if you want. Only these data will be send to us.
If you are still afraid to use the send button in the tool, you also can go to the Send Logfile section and send the parsed logfile manually.
If you still have questions, we are more than happy to answer them.

Q: Other languages?
A: Since we get lots support from German Server we decided to include german names whereever possible. Like monster names, zone names and item names..

Q: Why are there some mob/item/skill names in german?
A: Since the most data comes from german server at the moment we took them. Thats temporary and english versions will replace them eventually.
